Well built gym shoes but not fitting well

I bought this shoe as recommended for sizing up. With that, the size is right overall but I can still feel my toes pinched. Also, the rear side walls keep compressing my ankle. As other areas are quite spacious, it can not go even larger. I tried few times hoping it will get better over time. Then I realized why bother with a pair of shoes even not comfortable during walking. Finally I returned it.

Other than that, the shoes are in good quality, very stable when doing heavy lifting, and the front half is very flexible.

True to size. Used them fresh out of the box for my leg workout. They keep you firmly planted on the ground for deadlifts and squats. Theyre also good for walks. Highly recommend.

    Disappointing Shoe

I really liked the Nike Free Metcon 6, but it was time for a new pair of gym shoes. I bought the Metcon 7 because it was the only training shoe option available in my size at Dicks Sporting Goods. I sized up 1/2 for 11 to 11.5 due to the narrow and small fit. The 11.5 is large enough, but still narrow. Im having a hard time getting over the feeling that Im wearing pointy shoes. I think the Nike Free should be about natural foot movement. My feet felt like they could move freely in the 6, but feel restricted in the 7. I also dont like the harsh plastic sides of this shoe, especially in the toebox. Ive almost lost a toenail a couple times, and not even moving vigorously. The toe box has loosened up slightly with a couple workouts, but still not very comfortable. Hopefully this improves over time. I basically feel like Im stuck wearing these because they were the only option available. Hopefully, they fix some of these design flaws in the Metcon 8, or I will be looking for a different shoe next time.

    Airy and stretchy

I feel that the shoes run true to size. Theyre very comfortable and airy. Its like youre walking on air or a cloud pillow like theyre very comfortable to walk around and either go to the gym or if youre out in the city doing errands.

The design is well crafted. Its very spacious for someone who has a wide feet so its not tight on the toes and it gives you that extra space and stretch you need if you wanted to wear like a double sock.

The fabric is very breathable and stretchy and it seems as if theyre like kind of waterproof where that your feet wont get hot because of how the fabric is designed to like come back the sweat if you did decide to work out in these.

Overall, I love the shoe its very comfortable stretchy breathable and they feel like youre walking on a cloud. Im very attracted to the design in the material. Its very high-quality so that youll get a good last out of them whether youre using them for workout or for running errands all day, theyre very comfortable. I dont think I will change anything about the Shoe maybe bring more colors in for women. I love pink. I would love to see these in more colors but overall well crafted design and very comfortable for my busy lifestyle.

    Cool and comfy

This is a very comfortable shoe. These shoes are super versatile, I wear them as a casual everyday shoe but also when I occasionally lift weights this is my go to shoe. The flat sole makes you feel very grounded and stable. I also love the variety of details and texture on the all black color way, such a cool looking shoe.

    nice shoe, odd color

these shoes work well for weight lifting. they have a nice fit on the heel where i don't slip at all, they are snug in the midfoot, and there is room in the toe box. They work well for leg day and upper body day. The major downside with these shoes is the color way - it gives server shoes. Black on black is not a great look.

    Solid Trainers

These are good shoes for running or training. They fit true to size, have a thick sole, and a breathable mesh upper. I havent quite broken them in yet and the shoes are a little stiff, but I feel like theyll get more comfortable with time. They have a good amount of support for running or hiking and definitely feel very sturdy. One thing I find strange is that the laces are really short.. I wish they were just a little longer so that I could double knot them. The design is relatively basic, but these are a good pair to keep on hand. I plan to bring mine camping later this summer for riverside hikes and walks.

    Best Overall Trainers

This is my 3rd pair of Metcons. I love these shoes for training. Over the years I feel like the shoes design and fit have dramatically changed over the years for the better. This new pair of Free Metcon 7s have a classic design and wider toe box than typical Nike training shoes. Plenty of room for your toes to spread and feet to stay flat to the floor for weight training. I ordered a half size up than my usual size, and I couldve gotten my regular size in these with these since theyre more roomy than previous models Ive owned. The design is simple, in a good way. The materials of the shoe make it breathable.

What I love the most about these shoes are that theyre comfortable enough to wear as daily casual shoes and you can train in them. Theyre durable too. Ive mostly worn them for HIIT workouts, weightlifting, and cardio warmups on the treadmill. Ive also worn them for full work days (with lots of walking). My feet werent hot or tired. I would recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a shoe they can use for multiple things.

    To Infinity and Beyond

The Nike Free Metcon 7 are very durable, comfortable and easy to wear. They are soft to touch and can be worn in all weather. The design is aligned to the Nike brand and is designed for easy use and easy handling. The fabric is designed to be breathable and lightweight. I would not change anything about the design, the sneaker is made perfectly.

Flexible and Stable. Versatile and Reliable.

The Nike Free Metcon 7 shoes are comfortable and lightweight while still providing the stability and support needed for HIIT workouts and strength training. At 6'2" 215 lbs, the shoes felt grounded during lifts like squats and deadlifts, yet surprisingly nimble during exercises like box jumps and burpees. They run slightly big and, like most Nike Free shoes, they were ready for use right out of the box with no break in required.

I really like the Metcon branding on the tongue and heel grabs. I just wish there was a bigger call out to the Swoosh. There are several, but theyre small and hardly noticeable on the Triple Black colorway. Another great design is how the tongue is sewn directly to the upper about halfway up. It gives the shoes a lockdown effect with a sock-like feel.

What stood out most was their versatility in handling different types of training. They felt adaptive during agility workouts and stable under loads while weightlifting. They even look great for everyday wear.

Overall, the Metcon 7s feel and look as good as they perform. If youre wanting versatility and a shoe that can do it all, these are them. I recommend them for active individuals at any stage in their fitness journey. Thank you, Nike, for letting me test and review the Nike Free Metcon 7 shoes!

Just Average but a little let down.

I had some time to try out the Nike Free Metcon 7, and overall, I thought they were okay for what theyre designed to do. They felt decent enough for workouts, but they didnt really stand out to me compared to some other training shoes Ive worn.

One of the first things I noticed was the fit. They felt a little too big on my feet and never really gave me that snug, tight feeling that I usually look for in a training shoe. I think sizing down may help, but in during my experience they felt a bit loose and bulky. At times it almost felt like I was wearing small boxes on my feet rather than a shoe that fit me naturally.

The materials seemed durable enough, but they didnt feel particularly premium. They got the job done, but they lacked that high quality feel that makes you immediately notice and appreciate the work made to create them when you put them on.

The design was probably my least favorite part. The mostly black color scheme felt a little plain to me, and it didnt really have that classic Nike look that stands out. I personally would have liked to see a white Nike Swoosh incorporated somewhere into the design to give it a little more personality and make it more recognizable as a Nike shoe.

Overall, the Nike Free Metcon 7 is a fine for what it is - a training shoe, but it wasnt really for me. If I could change one thing, it would be the fit and color scheme. A more secure fit and a little more visual appeal can go a long way in improving the overall experience.

    Great shoe for hybrid training

The Nike Free Metcon 7 is a great option if you need a dedicated gym shoe. Not only were the shoes very comfortable they were also great for lifting. These shoes are great if you are a hybrid athlete. I found that they had just the right amount of cushion for cardio for long sessions of incline treadmill or stair master but were also stable enough to do heavy deadlifts and squats. I was able to use them for heavy sled push/pulls with no issue. The fabric seems to be pretty durable yet also breathable. The material on the toe scratches easily but will buff out nicely with a good wipe down after your gym sesh. The shoes overall design and comfortability is also great if you need to throw on something quick outside the gym. I found myself reaching for these shoes over my other shoes for quick trips to the store since they were quick to slip on with the heel strap. The only thing I would reconsider with this shoe is to go a half size up from you regularly wear. They were a bit uncomfortable and too small out of the box but re-lacing the shoes just right seemed to help.

    Solid Trainers

Admittedly when I first got the Free Metcon 7s I was a bit skeptical, but after having tried them as part of my usual routine they turned out to be a very dependable pair for working out. They were very supportive, especially for leg routines and squats especially. I'm a huge fan of the slightly raised arched footbed to just give a little extra support. They're not the most comfortable but they're designed for stability primarily, and they did flex a good amount underfoot when I needed them to. The upper is decently breathable too, while I also really like knitted uppers these were a solid offering to keep things decently cool even in a hot gym. Lockdown isn't the best but it definitely gets me through my reps with no hassle, especially with how stellar the traction is on these. Overall a pretty solid pair with no special frills, just good performance.

    Great training shoe
    Great training shoe

Ive been training in the Nike Metcon Free 7 for several weeks now, and theyve quickly become my go-to gym shoe. The elevated heel provides excellent support and stability during squats, helping me feel more planted and confident under heavier loads. Whether Im lifting, doing functional fitness workouts, or moving through accessory work, theyve performed exactly as I hoped.

Comfort is another strong point. For a training-focused shoe, theyre surprisingly comfortable for everyday wear and short walks. I wouldnt choose them for long-distance walking or an all-day sightseeing trip, but for running errands before or after the gym, theyre more than capable. The cushioning strikes a nice balance between comfort and stability without feeling overly soft.

From a styling standpoint, Nike did a solid job. The design is modern and athletic, though they do run a little on the bulky side compared to some lifestyle sneakers. That said, they look like theyre built for training, which is exactly what they are. If youre looking for a shoe that clearly belongs in the gym and performs well there, the Metcon Free 7 checks the box.

Overall, Im extremely happy with the purchase. The combination of stability, comfort, and gym-focused performance has impressed me enough that Ill be switching to these as my primary training shoe going forward. For anyone looking for a dependable lifting and training sneaker with good everyday versatility, the Metcon Free 7 is an easy recommendation.

    The Ultimate All-in-One Training Shoe!

I have been putting the Nike Free Metcon 7 through its paces, and it has easily become the most versatile and reliable footwear in my rotation. If you need a shoe that seamlessly transitions between different physical demands without skipping a beat, this is it.

    Why Its the Perfect Hybrid:
All-Day Work Comfort: I wear these shoes every single day for work, and the comfort level is unmatched. Even during long hours on my feet, the combination of cushioning and support keeps foot fatigue completely at bay.

Elite Weightlifting Stability: When it comes to hitting the weights, the Metcon DNA shines. The wide, flat heel provides an incredibly solid, planted base for heavy squats, deadlifts, and overhead presses, giving you the stability you need to lift with confidence.

Agile Cardio Training: Unlike traditional stiff lifting shoes, the "Free" technology in the forefoot offers fantastic flexibility. They feel lightweight and responsive during intense cardio training sessions, sprints, and agility drills.
Durability & Style: The upper construction is tough enough to handle intense friction and daily grind, yet it maintains a sharp, athletic aesthetic that looks great both inside and outside the gym.

Nike managed to perfectly balance the flexibility needed for cardio with the rigid stability required for serious weightlifting. Wearing them daily for both work and training has proven their incredible durability.

Highly recommended for anyone who demands peak performance from their gear all day, every day!

    Good everything shoe!

When I got these in the mail I was skeptical, but they really work for a lot of activities. I am a janitor and a coach so I move around a lot. Typically my legs get sore at the end of the day, but these shoes proved different. They felt good when I was wearing them during my coaching and janitor duties. When working out in them they felt great, good stability and traction. I played some basketball in them, not the best traction but I didnt roll my ankles. I ran with the team I coached in these shoes and they preformed well. No issues with support or traction during my training sessions. Also as a janitor while mopping floors the tread was very good because on wet surfaces I still have decent traction, although I am still careful about walking on wet surfaces. The fabric drys out quick, I have spilled water on them multiple times from mopping and they stay relatively dry and stink free. Definitely a great shoe for multi purpose users.

    The new Metcon!!

This is my first time trying out gym dedicated shoes that are actually designed with stability in mind. I was pleasantly surprised how different it feels compared to what I am used to wearing when going to the gym. What I am used to wearing is my running shoes or my air max. The fit is true to size in both width and length, although the width is a little tight but also not uncomfortable.

Maybe it is my imagination but it feels like this shoe helps with my over pronation as when I walk or lift heavier weight, I dont feel or see my right foot/ankle folding inwards. I am not too familiar with the metcon series as Ive mainly bought them in the past for my sister and she always loved them but now I understand her. After wearing this shoe and now looking back with my other higher cushioned running shoes, those were having me all wobbly sometimes when trying to lift heavier weights.

I did some CrossFit exercises along with HIIT and it was very comfortable! The stair master was a lot easier to do too. I didnt think it would have cushion but it does, the foam in the heel is soft but too soft. I also did sled pushes and it was a lot easier to do. I read that you can do some short distance running or sprints but I feel that the forefoot cushion is lacking or has none at all so I have not tried doing those yet but for sure If I did, Id be able to turn corners with more confidence knowing I wont be rolling my ankle.

For the design the very first part that caught my attention was the upper, it looks exactly like the Jordan 11!!! It looks so sick!! Also the fabric makes it very breathable so bonus points. I am glad this model is my first experience with the metcon series. The midsole looks smooth too and the outsole has a cool traction design. Im not sure what it is called on the side of the shoe that has the swoosh but I like that little detail too. I love the mini swoosh on the toebox and I like that it is becoming more common with the newer models.

Not really much I would change as I dont have personal experience with this series but if if there is talks of doing short runs with this shoe, there should be more forefoot cushioning to handle that but it would be best to leave that for the running division. This one I use mainly for lifting and some casual walking

    Size up!

I generally wear a size 10 for Nike (10.5 for most Jordans) and I'd start by saying that these run a bit narrow AND short. I can feel my pinky toes being gently tucked inward and there's a little less room in front of my toes in the toebox than I'd like. This is my first pair of metcons so I can't compare them to previous generations.

There are no active hotspots from a comfort standpoint, which is a relief since the heel pull tab does come slightly higher than the heel, but it's short enough that it never actually touches your achilles.

I like that most of the upper is a soft mesh (it's thick though so breathability isn't as amazing as your favorite runners) except for the high abrasion zones which are bonded (probably why I feel a bit cramped). The mesh is extremely soft and plush though so even tightening the laces causes no discomfort across the top of my foot.

The midsole is very firm and flat, which is great for lifting without being so hard that I haven't been able to do some treadmill work.

Overall, I still wish the toebox was a bit wider, but I do have slightly wide feet so YMMV.
