Audio described versionMoe Saleh: My passion has always lived in in streetwear and luxury, and that's why, you know, I created this space.
My name is Moe and this is my shop.
Ali Saab: I'm Ali, store manager for Denim Exchange.
Moe Saleh: Denim Exchange has been around for over 25 years for a reason.
It's the love that the community shows us. That's the love that built Denim Exchange,
and that's why everything we do is is for them.
Ali Saab: Every sneaker has a story for me. I like the smell of sneakers, new sneakers, you know?
If I'm having a bad day, put a fresh pair of sneakers and I feel good about myself.
Moe Saleh: You know, growing up, every pair told a story, what you stood for,
what you believed in, or what era you were from.
I want to say that that's part of the LA sneaker culture.
The people of Southeast LA have a heartbeat that's unmatched. Full of hustle and resilience and creativity.
We're here to serve these people and and provide the sneakers and apparel that the community is looking for.
Ali Saab: We're always involved in the community. We ask what events are happening for the community and we try to join in.
We try to support local teams. We're trying to just always be a part of the community.
We see these young girls become nice basketball players, you know? It's good that they can dream.
Dreams are what makes reality.
I've been coming here for a long time. I coach, so one day, like, I was chopping it up with Moe, and just out the blue he like, "Man, I want to donate to your football team."
Like, that meant the world to me cuz he's the reason that we got brand new helmets in our program and and spirit pack.
So Denim Exchange has played a pivotal role in our program's success and in in all the community in South Central.
I've been coming to Denim Exchange for about 24 years now.
I get all my stuff here: my hats, my jeans, my shoes, pretty much everything.
I'mma be the first person with a Denim Exchange tattoo pretty soon. [laughs] Yeah.
Moe Saleh: What makes me proud to call this place home is just the everyday moments.
We always have people come in and and just chop it up with us and these are the people that make us proud,
